Doug selected all the components of the systems, including dataloggers and sensor devices, arranged for their purchase, and then installed them at 23 sample homes selected throughout California.

Along with RER staff, Doug published two papers on the project in the Proceedings of ASES for years 2001 and 2002. The RER California data monitoring program has and is providing key information – solar radiation, module temperature, DC and AC power (through the PV inverter), and total home power – that is shaping standards for California's renewables program.
